- The Tamil Nadu Forest Department has introduced ‘Tamizhaga Marakkalanjiyam', a mobile phone application to provide information about tress and silviculture.
- The application has been developed under an innovative project of the State Forest Department.
- All the necessary information needed for silviculture is provided in the application bilingually (English and Tamil).
- Information about 150 trees and their breeding techniques are provided.
- These trees are classified into 19 species.
- The application provides knowledge database on type of trees that can be grown in each district of Tamilnadu based on soil type of the particular district.
- The application features information on Intercropping and Agricultural Forest models.
- The application is available on Android and Apple platforms.
