- On March 4 2014, the Government of India declared June 2 2014 as the Telangana Formation Day.
- In February 2014, Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 bill was passed by the Parliament of India for the formation of Telangana state comprising ten districts from north-western Andhra Pradesh.
- As per the Act, Hyderabad would be the capital of Telangana, while the city would also remain the capital of the residual state of Andhra Pradesh for not more than ten years.
