Amongst the 19 Metropolitan Cities, cities reporting highest charge-sheeting rate under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Crimes are Surat (96.7%), Coimbatore (96.6%) and Ahmedabad (96.3%).
Assam recorded the highest rate of crime against women in the country for the fourth consecutive year.
The rate is calculated as the number of crimes recorded per 100,000 population.
Odisha came at the second place.
Delhi came at the third place.
West Bengal and Odisha registering the highest increase.
Uttar Pradesh registered the biggest drop
Lucknow of Uttar Pradesh occupies the first place in crimes against women in the category of Metro cities at the rate of highest level.
In the category of low rate of crime against women, Coimbatore occupies 1st place, Chennai 2nd place and Kerala’s Kochi occupies third place.
Rajasthan recorded the highest number of rape cases followed by Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Assam.
Among all crimes against women, the highest number of cases was recorded under “cruelty by husband or relatives” in 2020.
Uttar Pradesh (31) and Madhya Pradesh (27) recorded the instances of rape-cum-murder/gang rape.
Uttar Pradesh topped in the crime rate for dowry deaths.
Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar recorded the highest rate of crimes against the SCs.
Among cities, Kanpur and Jaipur registered the highest rate.
Kerala, Rajasthan and Telangana recorded the highest rate of crimes against the STs.
