- The Minister of Technical Educational & industrial Training in the Punjab government is now appointed as the new Punjab Chief Minister.
- He was appointed as the Chief minister after Captain Amarinder Singh resigned from the post.
- This is the first time ever that Punjab has got a chief minister from a scheduled caste community.
