  • It confirms that 2023 is set to be the warmest year on record.
  • The global temperatures (until the end of the October of 2023) are soaring to approximately 1.4 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels (1850-1900)
  • It surpasses the previous record set in 2016.
  • The current findings, however, do not imply that the world has crossed the long-term warming threshold of 1.5C.
  • The scientists consider 1.5C as the upper limit for averting catastrophic climate impacts as per the 2015 Paris Agreement.
