- As per the Tamil Nadu Forest minister statement, the following Three new sanctuaries would be created in this year. They are
- One for birds at Nanjanrayan tank in Tirupur
- Another for elephants at Krishnagiri and
- Third for slender loris in Dindigul.
- Slender loris, is an endangered species endemic to South India and Sri Lanka.
