  • The UN expects all Member States to pay tribute to all victims of the Second World War on this day.
  • The observance of this day aims to
    • save succeeding generations from the war
    • to settle all disputes by peaceful means in conformity with the Charter of the United Nations
    • to uphold international peace and security at all times.
