- Tamil Nadu government introduced the new tenancy Act, which is aimed at balancing the rights of the tenants and owners.
- It was modelled on the Centre's Tenancy Act.
- This Tamil Nadu Regulations of Rights and Responsibilities of Landlords and Tenants Act 2017 will replace the Tamil Nadu Buildings (Lease and Rent Control) Act, 1960, which is popularly known as Rent Control Act.
- CM launched an exclusive portal www.tenancy.tn.gov.in, where people can create tenancy registration number under the tenancy act.
