- This Bill seeks to amend the Tamil Nadu Public Premises (the Eviction of the Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1975 in line with Waqf Act, 1995 retrospectively from January 7, 2021.
- This bill sought for the necessary validation provision and to reserve it for the consideration of the President as required under the Article 254 (2) of the Constitution.
- An amendment was made to clause (e) of Section 7 of the Tamil Nadu Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Amendment Act, 2010.
- It is including the waqf premises registered with the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board within the definition of the term “public premises”.
- Several unauthorised occupants from the premises belonging to a waqf registered with the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board were evicted from such premises.
