- According to the AISHE survey 2021-22 Uttar Pradesh has the highest number (8375) of colleges in the country, followed by Maharashtra (4692), Karnataka (4430), Rajasthan (3934) and Tamilnadu (2829).
- Bengaluru Urban district has the maximum colleges (1106) in the country and Karnataka (66) a high number of colleges per lakh population in the country followed by Telangana (52), Andhra Pradesh (49), Himachal Pradesh (47), Puducherry (53) and Kerala (46).
