- Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day on 08.08.2018 after paying obituary to DMK chief M Karunanidhi who passed away on 07.08.2018. This is the first time the Parliament has been adjourned to pay tribute to a person who was never been an MP.
- Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha that, only citizens of India have the right to seek information under the provisions of Right to Information Act, 2005. Non-Resident Indians are not eligible to file RTI applications.
- Former Michigan state lawmaker Rashida Tlaib is set to become the first Muslim woman elected to United States of Congress after winning the Democratic primary for the House of Representative seat of the United States of Congress.
