- The 2017 World Youth Forum, 5-day event was inaugurated by the President of Egypt Mr.Abdel Fattah el-Sisi held at Sharam El Shiekh in Egypt. From India, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Col Rajyavardhan Rathore had participated in the forum.
- Indian Army launched an independent and fully-integrated Joint Training Node (JTN) at Umroi cantonment in Shillong, aims at hosting foreign armies in joint military exercises. It is the first of its kind in eastern command.
- The government appointed Hasmukh Adhia, 1981 batch IAS officer, as the Finance Secretary. He is currently serving as the Revenue Secretary and is the senior-most in the Finance Ministry.
