  • Social Entrepreneur Suheil F. Tandonhas won the International Olympic Committee's Sport and Active Society Commission's Grant Award for his contribution to sports for development.
    • Suheil is the founder of Pro Sport Development (PSD) and Executive Director of Martha Farrell Foundation.
  • Nokia and the government-owned telecom operator BSNL announced to work together to leverage 4G LTE technology for enabling greater operational efficiency at Nokia's Chennai plant and prepare it for the 5G era with smart manufacturing.
  • The Nilgiris district has won the JRD Tata Memorial Award for the best implementation of government programmes in hygiene, drinking water, sanitation, child health, reproductive health and women empowerment.
    • The award was instituted in 1997 by the Population Foundation of India to honour the best performing state and districts.
  • Former Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Narayan Dutt Tiwari passed away in New Delhi. He was 93-year-old. He is only Politician who has served as CM of two states.
    • He was three-time CM of Uttar Pradesh and was the first elected CM of Uttarakhand as well. The Birth date and Death date is same for him (October 18).
  • Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) to launch ‘Prakriti’ programme.
    • The two MoUs have been signed for a period of 10 years.
