- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister inaugurated a statue and Mani Mandabam for Narayanaswamy Naidu, a farmer leader at Vaiyampalayam in Coimbatore.
- India’s National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) and the Ministry of Public Administration of Bangladesh signed a MoU for training 1800 Bangladesh Civil Servants.
- The Union government announced the Great Indian Bustard (GIB) as the mascot for the 13th UN Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species (CMS - COP 13), scheduled to be held in Gujarat next year. CMS COP is also known as a Global Wildlife Conference.
- The mascot was launched by Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, who also revealed that the bird has been fondly named by the ministry as 'Gibi'.
