- The Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) has for the first time compiled a list of alien invasive animal species, totalling 157. Scientists have identified 157 animal species that pose a threat to native fauna. This number excludes invasive microbe species
- Philippines was hard hit by tropical storm Kai-Tak. The storm made landfall in Biliran island in eastern Philippines, with strong winds upto 80 kmph.
