  • In the honour of freedom fighter S.S. Ramasamy Padayachi Tamilnadu government has unveiled his portrait in State Assembly complex on 19.07.19
  • Tamilnadu government has announced an annual award in the name of SP. Adithanar to recognise one Tamil periodical, daily, magazine each which promotes Tamil heritage and those that are published in chaste Tamil uninfluenced by other languages.
  • Indian Army has successfully carried out summer user trials of NAG missile at Pokhran Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan. This paves the way for production and induction of the missile system into the Army.
  • Researchers at Canada’s University of British Columbia are developing a high-performance cricket bat called ‘Algobat’ using computer modelling and optimisation algorithms.
    • They optimised the geometry of the bat to minimise vibrations when ball hits the bat thus transferring more energy to the ball.
  • Scientists from Technion Israel Institute of Technology have developed a concept they named as the “Ramanujan Machine” after the Indian mathematician.
  • According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), India’s current account (CA) balance deficit rose to $68 billion in 2018-19 from $49 billion in 2017-18.
