  • The Nepal cabinet has endorsed a revision to the mountaineering regulations of its nation, banning solo climbers from its mountains, including Mount Everest, in a bid to reduce accidents. The cabinet also endorsed a ban on double amputee and blind climbers.
  • The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on request of the Ministry of Shipping has exempted cruise tourists arriving with e-visa from the requirement of biometric enrolment for a period of three years (till 2020). The purpose of the move is to promote cruise tourism in the country. E-visa facility is being implemented in five major ports viz. Mumbai, Mormugao, New Mangalore, Cochin and Chennai.
  • China has started collecting an environment tax to better protect the environment and cut pollutant discharge, as the country’s Environmental Protection Tax Law took effect on Jan. 1, 2018.
