  • A selection Committee chaired by Chief Minister Palanisami selected 1984 batch IAS Officer Rajagopalan for the post of State Chief Information Commissioner.
  • Supreme Court Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde was sworn in as the 47th Chief Justice of India, replacing Ranjan Gogoi.
    • In August 2017, he was part of a Bench that ruled that the right to privacy is “intrinsic to life and liberty”.
  • On the first day of the winter session, Rajya Sabha’s 250 session was conducted. A special discussion on ‘Role of Rajya Sabha and the need for reforms’ was held.
  • 19th Jharkhand foundation day was observed on 15th November. It was established by the Bihar Reorganisation Act, 2000.
    • 15th November is also the birth anniversary of legendary tribal leader Birsa Munda (15 November 1875 – 9 June 1900).
  • National Epilepsy day was observed on 17th November. The Epilepsy Foundation of India leads the observance of this day.
  • Sri Lanka’s controversial wartime Defense Secretary and brother of Mahinda Rajapaksa, Gotabaya Rajapaksha has won the Presidential elections. He defeated rival Sajith Premadasa of United National Party.
  • Coca-Cola has been named the world’s largest polluter of plastics for the second year in a row, according to an audit conducted by environmental group “Break Free From Plastic”. It is followed by Nestle and Pepsi.
  • The inaugural edition of the Bilateral Maritime Exercise Za’ir-Al-Bahr (Roar of the Sea) is being conducted from 17 to 21 November 2019 between the Indian Navy and Qatari Emiri Naval Forces.
    • The five-day bilateral maritime exercise at Doha includes surface action, air defence, maritime surveillance as well as social and sports events.
