  • The Union ministry of health and family welfare has cleared the proposal of Tamil Nadu to set up three new medical colleges in Krishnagiri, Nagapattinam and Tiruvallur.
  • The Tamilnadu department of tourism, culture and religious endowments has proposed to establish the Governor Bungalow of Danish, located at Tharangambadi, Nagapattinam district as an ancient monument.
    • Also known as Collector's House, it is located opposite Dansborg Fort and was taken over by the British in 1845 after the exit of the Danes.
  • Neenu Ittyerah of Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) has assumed charge as Principal Chief Operations Manager (PCOM) of Southern Railway.
    • She is the first woman officer to occupy the post in the zonal railway.
  • According to data provided in Rajya Sabha by Ministry of Environment, at the last count, the rivers of Assam and Uttar Pradesh respectively had 962 and 1,275 Gangetic dolphins (or Platanista gangetica).
  • Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister of India S. Jaishankar, met Foreign Affairs Minister of Japan and Minister of Defense of Japan in New Delhi for the first India-Japan 2+2 Foreign and Defence Ministerial Meeting.
  • Soma Roy Burman has assumed the charge as the new Controller General of Accounts (CGA).
    • She is the 24th CGA and the seventh woman to hold this coveted position. She has replaced J P S Chawla.
  • Nagaland celebrated its 57th Statehood Day on 01st December 2019. It became the 16th state of the country on 01st December 1963.
  • The Union government has “launched a drive” to enroll one crore beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) and the National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self Employed Persons (NPS-Traders) by March 2020.
