- The Ministry of Railways has decided to set up of a massive rail coach factory in Latur district i.e. in Marathwada region of Maharashtra. It will help to generate employment opportunities and bring economic development in Marathwada region which is one of the most Backward Parts of Maharashtra.
- Eminent musicologist Dr Premeela Gurumurthy has been appointed as vice-chancellor of Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University.
