  • The Geographical Indication (GI) tag has been given to Black rice of Manipur, also called the Chak-Hao, Gorakhpur Terracotta of Uttar Pradesh and Kadalai Mittai of Kovilpatti of Tamilnadu.
    • In 2004–05, Darjeeling tea became the first GI tagged product in India. 
  • The task force headed by Atanu Chakraborty on National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) has submitted its final report to the Finance Minister.
    • The NIP will play a significant role in fulfilling India’s goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy by FY 2025.
  • The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced that it is to provide 3 million USD for India’s PAHAL project.
    • PAHAL is Partnerships for Affordable Healthcare Access and Longevity.
  • The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, deemed university operating under Defence Research and Development Organization has designed microwave sterilizer called “ATULYA”.
    • It is used to disintegrate COVID-19 virus.
  • The National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) operating under Department of Science and Technology has launched YASH to focus on COVID-19.
    • YASH is Year of Awareness on Science and Health. 
  • The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has selected SpaceX, Blue Origin, and Dynetics, the three space firms to build new lunar landing systems.
    • It will carry astronauts to the moon by 2024.
