  • The Central Drug Control Standard Organisation (CDCSO), India’s top drug controller has permitted Gilead Sciences for marketing authorization of its anti-viral drug ‘Remdesivir’.
    • Remdesivir had also been used during the Ebola outbreak.
  • The 36th National Games, which were scheduled to be held between October and November in Goa, have now been postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19 pandemic.
    • The 35th edition was organized at Kerala in 2015.
  • China will be setting up a 1,124-megawatt power project on Jhelum river in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under the multi-billion-dollar China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.
    • The mega power project is called the Kohala hydropower project.
  • The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijju inaugurated the India Community Coach Development Programme.
    • The programme has been launched to give more importance to Physical Education in schools.
  • International Sex Workers Day is observed annually on June 2 of every year.
