- Shri M. Subbarayudu, (IFS: 1994), presently Ambassador of India to Peru, has been concurrently accredited as the next Ambassador of India to State of Bolivia.
- The Jammu & Kashmir government has constituted the first ever State Council for Promotion of Urdu Language in a bid to promote the official language of the state.
- The third Partnership Summit of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) was held in Visakhapatnam. The event is to be held by CII in association with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Government of India, and Andhra Pradesh Government.
- Michael McCormack has been elected Australia's new deputy prime minister after being selected as the leader of the country's National Party, the junior partner in the country's coalition government. He replaces Barnaby Joyce.
