- A panel formed by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has recommended a ban on the use of diesel-powered four-wheel vehicles by 2027.
- It recommended to instead transition to electric and gas-fuelled vehicles.
- This is applicable to cities with a population of more than 1 million.
- India wants to produce 40% of its electricity from renewables to achieve its 2070 net zero goal.
- India aims to raise the share of gas in its energy mix to 15% by 2030 form 6.2% now.
