- Scientists have discovered two new species of pipeworts, a type of wetland plant, from areas along the Western Ghats in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
- The species found in Maharashtra has been named Eriocaulon parvicephalum and the Karnataka species is being called Eriocaulon karaavalense.
