- The United Arab Emirates has selected its first two astronauts to go on a mission to the International Space Station.
- Two astronauts are Hazza al-Mansouri and Sultan al-Nayadi. their missions are scheduled for next year.
- UAE announced plans to become the first Arab country to send its unmanned probe "Hope" to orbit Mars by 2021.
- In the long-term, the UAE plans to build a "Science City" to replicate life on Mars and aims to create the first human settlement on Mars by 2117.
