  • The United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation is annually observed on September 12.
  • In 2003, the UN General Assembly declared December 19 to be observed as the UN Day for South-South Cooperation.
  • But in 2011 it was moved to September 12.
  • This date commemorates the date when the United Nations (UN) General Assembly adopted a plan of action in 1978 to promote and implement technical cooperation among developing countries.
  • The day aims to raise people's awareness of the UN's efforts to offer various services to countries of the Southern hemisphere.
