The United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation is annually observed on September 12.
In 2003, the UN General Assembly declared December 19 to be observed as the UN Day for South-South Cooperation.
But in 2011 it was moved to September 12.
This date commemorates the date when the United Nations (UN) General Assembly adopted a plan of action in 1978 to promote and implement technical cooperation among developing countries.
The day aims to raise people's awareness of the UN's efforts to offer various services to countries of the Southern hemisphere.
