  • According to UNESCO, this network is a global policy-oriented network offering “inspiration, know-how and best practice”.
  • India’s Three Cities i.e., Telangana’s Warangal, Kerala’s Thrissur & Nilambur have been inducted into this list.
  • They became the nation’s first entrants in the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.
  • Warangal is the second UNESCO recognition for Telangana.
  • Earlier, Ramappa Temple in Mulugu district of Telangana was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
  • The Three Indian Cities were part of the 77 cities from 44 countries.
  • There are six features that define a learning city
    • Effectively mobilises its resources in every sector to advocate inclusive learning
    • Revitalises learning in families and communities
    • Facilitates learning for and at workplaces
    • Extends the use of modern learning technologies
    • Augments quality and excellence in learning
    • Fosters a culture of learning throughout life.
