- According to UNESCO, this network is a global policy-oriented network offering “inspiration, know-how and best practice”.
- India’s Three Cities i.e., Telangana’s Warangal, Kerala’s Thrissur & Nilambur have been inducted into this list.
- They became the nation’s first entrants in the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.
- Warangal is the second UNESCO recognition for Telangana.
- Earlier, Ramappa Temple in Mulugu district of Telangana was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
- The Three Indian Cities were part of the 77 cities from 44 countries.
- There are six features that define a learning city
- Effectively mobilises its resources in every sector to advocate inclusive learning
- Revitalises learning in families and communities
- Facilitates learning for and at workplaces
- Extends the use of modern learning technologies
- Augments quality and excellence in learning
- Fosters a culture of learning throughout life.
