- India has been asked to chair 3 major bodies of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
- India is to chair this Counter Terrorism Committee in 2022.
- This committee was formed in September 2001 after the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Centre in New York, United States.
- India had last chaired this committee in 2011-12.
- India is also to chair the Taliban Sanctions Committee and Libya Sanctions committee.
