Men Singles - Rafael Nadal won championship
- Rafel Nadal won the US Open Men singles championship by defeating South Africa's Kevin Anderson in the Finals.
- It is the 16th title of Nadal's grand slam history. At the same time, he won two grand slam titles in this year. Earlier he won French Open. Moreover, it is the third title of US Open for him.
- USA's Sloane Stephens won the championship title by defeating her counterpart Madison Keys in the US Open Women's singles final. It is to be noted that it was her first grand slam title.
- The United States Open Tennis Championships is a hard court tennis tournament. Since 1987, the US Open has been chronologically the fourth and final tennis major comprising the Grand Slam each year; the other three, in chronological order, are the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon. The US Open is held annually, starting on the last Monday in August, and lasting for two weeks into September.
