- The United States of America (USA) has joined the International Solar Alliance (ISA) as a member country.
- U.S is now the 101st country to sign the framework agreement of the ISA.
- The framework agreement was formally signed by John Kerry, the U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, at the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland.
- The US also joined the steering committee of the “One Sun One World One Grid” initiative that includes Australia, France, the UK and India.
- The International Solar Alliance was launched in 2015 by PM Modi and the former President of France Francois Hollande.
- It was during the 21st session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP-21) in Paris, France.
