  • The annual van Mahotsav week is celebrated in India in the first week of July.
  • During this festival thousands of trees are planted all over India.
  • It was started in 1950 by K. M. Munshi, the then Union Minister for Agriculture and Food at that time.
  • This celebration aims to create awareness in the minds of the people for the conservation of forests and planting of new trees.
