Video piracy cell renamed

- The TN government has re-designated the Video Piracy Cell as Intellectual Property Right Enforcement Cell (IPREC).
- Units of IPREC in various districts of the State have been instructed to investigate offences such as the infringement of copyrights, trademarks, designs, patents and geographical indications of goods.
- The special cell will also investigate the cases which arise out of the violation of the provisions of the
- Cable Television Networks(Regulation) Act,
- Cinematograph Act,
- Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Act,
- Semiconductor Integrated Circuits Layout design Act and
- Biological Diversity Act.
