The Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified before the women's 50kg freestyle final at the Paris Olympics after failing to make weight.
The disqualification means Phogat will not receive a medal.
In the event of a disqualification of a finalist, no silver medal is awarded and the gold goes to the other finalist.
Vinesh had scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman wrestler to reach the gold medal bout.
Vinesh was found to be 100 grams over the weight limit during the morning weigh-in.
As per the United World Wrestling's rule book’s Article 11, "If an athlete does not attend or fail the weigh-in, he/she will be eliminated of the competition and ranked last, without rank."
