Kohli's tally of 200 runs in the first Test against England took him to first place in ICC Test Rankings
He pushed former Australia captain Steve Smith to the second spot.
Kohli scored his 22nd Test century with a knock of 149 in the first innings of the Edgbaston Test against England.
He followed it up with 51 in the second innings.
The achievement made Kohli the first Indian batsman to be No. 1 in Test cricket since Sachin Tendulkar in 2011.
Besides Tendulkar and Kohli, Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir have been the other Indian batsmen to achieve the top spot in ICC Test Rankings.
