- The Incumbent Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama was re-elected for a second term after his ruling Fiji First Party won this year’s general election.
- President, Major- General (Retired) Jioji Konrote administered the oath of the office to the PM at State House.
- This is Fiji’s second general election since a military coup in 2006 and the last election took place in 2014.
