- The Union government has mandated ecological flow for various stretches of the Ganga river.
- Ecological flow/ Environmental flow describes minimum quantity, timing, and quality of water flows required to sustain freshwater and estuarine ecosystems and the human livelihoods and well-being that depend on these ecosystems.
- The National Mission for Clean Ganga has laid down the flow specifications.
