- Maldives style water villas will soon be set up in Lakshadweep in a bid to attract tourists to scenic beauty in the Union Territory.
- This project is first of its kind in India.
- These villas would be set up in Minicoy, Suheli and Kadmat islands in Lakshadweep.
- Villas would be constructed under public-private partnership model.

- Lakshadweep is an archipelago of 36 islands in Arabian sea
- Kavaratti is the capital of Lakshadweep.
- It is having jurisdiction under the Kerala High Court.
- It originally comprised of 36 islands.
- But its Island called “Parali 1” has been submerged in water due to sea erosion.
