- Tamil Nadu electricity generation and distribution corporation is planning to increase the wind energy power generation.
- The current wind power capacity of Tamil Nadu is 8,507 MW.
- Tamil Nadu's share of India's wind power capacity is 23%.
- The Union Ministry of Power and Energy aims to create non-conventional energy sources with a capacity of 1 lakh 75 thousand MW by 2022 and 4 lakh 50 thousand MW by 2030.
- As part of this, Tamil Nadu is projected to reach 22,000 MW by 2022.
