- The Woolly Flying Squirrel (Eupetaurus cinereus) is endemic to the north-western Himalayas.
- It was long believed to be extinct until it was rediscovered in 1994 after a gap of nearly 70 years.
- It is the largest flying squirrel, the longest squirrel and the heaviest of all gliding mammals.
- The IUCN Conservation Status is Endangered.
