- Since 1988, it aims to raise public awareness about Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome.
- It is a pandemic disease cause due to infection Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) which affects the human immune system.
- India has about 2.47 million people living with HIV with approximately 66,000 new cases recorded last year.
- On 1st December, WHO, together with communities and partners will commemorate World AIDS Day 2023, under the theme “Let communities lead”.
