- World Animal Day is an international day of action for animal rights and welfare.
- It is celebrated annually on October 4.
- Cynologist Heinrich Zimmermann organized the first World Animal Day on 24 March 1925 at Berlin, Germany.
- Then it was moved to October 4th which is also the feast day of Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
