World Badminton - Sindhu won silver

  • India's P.V.Sindhu won silver medal in women's single title in World Badminton Championship.
  • In the final match held at Glascow of Scotland, Sindhu lost against Japan's Nozomi Okuhara.
  • This is the first time Sindhu played in the finals of World Badminton Championship. Sindhu is the second Indian to play in the finals of World badminton Championship.
  • The first Indian, who reached till final was Saina Newal in the last Championship event at Jagarta.
  • In the last year’s World Badminton Championship (2016), Saina won Bronze for India while Sindhu won Silver for India. This is the first time India has won two medals in World Championship event.
