- November 12 is the birth anniversary of veteran ornithologist Salim Ali.
- He was born in Mumbai on 12th November in 1896.
- Salim Ali is known as Birdman of India.
- Along with Sidney Dillon Ripley, he wrote “the Birds of India and Pakistan”.
- He was instrumental in the creation of the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary in Rajasthan.
- He became a key figure behind the Bombay Natural History Society after 1947
- Maharashtra celebrates 'Bird Week' from Nov 5-12 Every Year.
- On this day in 1990 also, the World Wide Web project was initiated as an idea by Tim Berners-Lee.
- The WWW was also the name of the first web browser which was developed by Berners-Lee himself.
