- Tamil Nadu’s Gukesh D and Savitha Shri B won gold medals in U-12 Open and girls’ category respectively at the World Cadets Chess Championship in Spain.
- Savitha Shri had earlier won a silver and gold at the Asian Youth chess championships in Bangkok.
- For Gukesh, this is the first World title.
