- The Day is expected to greatly promote the international community’s interest in global urbanization.
- It pushes the forward cooperation among countries in meeting opportunities addressing challenges of urbanization and contributing to sustainable urban development around the world.
- The global theme of World Cities Day 2021 is “Adapting cities for climate resilience”.
- It is organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
