- World Coconut Day was celebrated on September 2. In India this event is organized by Coconut Development Board.
- September 2 has been declared World Coconut Day by the Asian and Pacific Coconut Community (APCC) headquartered at Jakarta, Indonesia, to coincide with APCC’s foundation day.
- The APCC is an inter-governmental organisation of 18- member countries mandated to promote, coordinate, and harmonise coconut developmental activities of the Asian Pacific region.
- All major coconut-growing countries, including India, are members of the APCC.
