Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mali – four main cotton producers in sub-Saharan Africa proposed this day in 2012.
It was established by the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2019.
It aims to recognize the importance of cotton as a global commodity and to promote awareness about the challenges faced by cotton farmers and the cotton industry worldwide.
The theme for 2023 is ‘Making cotton fair and sustainable for all: from farm to fashion’.
