  • The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims was started by Road Peace in 1993.
  • In 2005, the United Nations endorsed it as a global day to be observed every third Sunday in November each year.
  • Theme of this year is ‘Remember. Support. Act’.
  • Every 24 seconds someone dies on the world's roads, with over 90% of fatalities taking place in low- and middle-income countries.
  • In India, 1.68 lakh people died on the spot due to road accidents in 2022.
